on my table

A happy mess.

But around my table, a not-so-happy mess.

I'm in the middle of a series of needle books. There's tiny pieces everywhere. I just love putting those things together. I'm also putting together some IKEA shelving for the not-so-happy mess. Being able to walk in here and be able to reach all my felt will be so great.

  1. I understand that you want things in order - but I still think this looks lovely. :-)

  2. :-) I didn't realize how much fabric I actually had until I had filled up the new shelving with it. I have got to do some sewing and use some of it. (Note to self: DO NOT BUY ANY MORE FABRIC. I REALLY MEAN IT. SERIOUSLY.)

  3. I just want to reach through the screen and touch all the felt! Really. Want. Some. Felt. The colors are BEAUTIFUL!

  4. I love your happy mess, and how you've organized your floss cards. And I have that same chair! (Long live Ikea!)

  5. It's fun to (ignore the mess and) see how the needle books come together! That dark one (navy?) looks striking!!

  7. I always wonder the best way to keep fabric organized. It is such a good (and happy!) problem to have.

  8. I'm surprised anyone could pick out any nice fabric from that mess.
I have some major folding and sorting in my future. Thinking some plastic tubs might be helpful to round up the smaller pieces.
Grandma G, thanks! I'm almost happy with it.

  9. WOW! I'd give my arm and leg for the luxury of having special places to stack fabric - that's fabulous! Love your blog, it really cheers me up with all its bright colours ^-^

  10. I have an idea - why don't I come help you out by taking some of that fabric off your hands? Think how much more tidy your space will be... I'll start with the Hope Valley, okay?

  11. Claire, I know, it is bad form to complain when I should be so thankful to have a mess like this that is not in the middle of my dining table.

Bob, you'd do that for me? That's real big of you. You're a giver. ;-P Like you could wedge anymore fabric into your shelves.

  12. Oh man, I don't see a mess, I just see a big pile of wonderful colors and textures I just want to dive into and luxuriate in. Is that weird? Ugh, wish I had more room to allow such a "happy mess" into my life! I'll just drool from the sidelines [happy sigh]

  13. Lapiz, made me smile. I do love looking at stacks of fabric. I don't love having to step over them. I'll have to do a studio update sometime. It is looking a lot better.
