duvet cover reveal

You guys will be happy to know you won't hear me whining about sewing these two duvet covers anymore.

I'm very happy with how both of the covers turned out, and Thing 1 and Thing 2 just love them (it's a good thing too). They are so bright and cheerful in their room. Best of all, these things are OUT of my craft room. Yesss. Huge weight off my Towering Guilt Pile of Unfinished Projects.

I also sewed up a ruffled pillow sham (the subject of a tutorial coming soon) and the other pillow sham was purchased and then festooned with handmade yo yos.

On a whim I also sewed a couple of quick swiss dot pillow cases to go with the new stuff. I also would like to make a couple of cute accent pillows as finishing touches, but I haven't worked around to that yet. It's on the list.

  9. They're wonderful (and the room looks delightful!) - I particularly love the circles and you've inspired me to look at the plain white covers in M&S in a whole new light!

  14. You guys are so nice. I do like them, but I have to admit I came to the point where I really didn't care if the whole thing was a huge design mistake or not. Their room is small and the pattern scale is pretty large. I just wanted to get it done. So it is nice that I actually do like them!

  25. Oh, and class went well the other day. It's a good group of kids - 12 total!
I hope you like the Fallen books, but let me know what you think after reading. I need to get 'thud' or 'going postal' soon. I try to be responsible, but it is hard to put the books down!

  31. Fabulous makeover! I love the color scheme. The only problem now is that if your kids ever get in trouble and you send them to their room, they will secretly think, "YES!" lol

  32. Just great! So pretty! How do you get them to keep their room so clean?

  33. Love them, Larissa. So bright and cheery. Looking at those beds, I was reminded of my boy curled up asleep with your girl - was that last year? So sweet.

  34. These are beautiful!!! I will have to use your notes and make some for my daughters who want to decorate their room!

  35. Y'all are so nice. Thanks! I'm glad I could inspire. A basic duvet cover is pretty easy to make with ready-made sheets. And I guess even the zig zag patchwork would not be bad if you did it the right way instead of the hard way like I did. Also the 9 month duvet break is optional.

Robyn, yes, I remember that sweet photo. That my best friend took with a flash in the middle of a dark room full of sleeping children. :-)

  36. These are absolutely beautiful! LOVE the colors, patterns - everything.

  37. Oh, good grief. Must we dwell? Besides, I didn't take the photo. Laura did. My hands remain clean.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Bob, oh. I didn't remember that part. Well if you can't falsely blame your best friend, who can you falsely blame, really?

  39. Oh, Larissa, I LOVE them!!!!!
    many many hugs from Brazil!

  40. Larissa - Those turned out AMAZING! I'm thinking about sewing up a duvet for my bedroom . . . you're getting my wheels turning. :) The pillows are a great touch.

  41. These look fantastic! Great work!

  42. WOW. These are really cute duvet covers. Really cool for kids. Thanks for sharing. Keep it up.

  43. Can I ask for the measurements for those triangles? I'd love to make a quilt like this!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Samantha, hi! I used a standard twin size, 64 x 86 inches. The squares are 10 x 10 inches, finished. There's six squares across and eight down, so you'll have to add edge fabric around to make it twin sized. I'm no expert, but that is what I did.

  45. I must know - where are the beds from? I love the headboards!

  46. Hi

Your kids duvet covers are really so cute and are perfect for a kid's room. Can you please tell us how can I make them at home or how can I buy them for my kids super king size of duvet.
    Thanks in advance!!!
