well, you asked, Candy.
I'm trying to wow you with a shot of the gravel saved by the surgeon from my husband's kidney surgery. But I'm probably just really grossing you out. It was actually one big stone but it had to be broken into these bits to get it out through the scope in my husband's poor back. It's amazing what they can do nowadays, isn't it? If you live in my area you can't go wrong with Dr. Scott Shelfo if you have a kidney stone the size of a VW bus. He's an awesome surgeon. Shout out to you, Doc Shelfo! (snapping fingers and pointing)
Just so this post has some redeeming value for those of you who are icked out right now, jump over here instead and read a non-medical, fantastic review of my Wee Mouse Tin House pattern written up by Stephanie with help from her seven year old Sweet Pea. The pictures of her daughter helping to make the mouse house are so adorable, and you can get a real world synopsis of the process.

Holy cow!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was pregnant with my first I passed two kidney stones about the size of a peppercorn and I thought I might DIE! It was torturous pain!
Your husband is a total rock star.
Oh my lord! You were right. They're indeed the size of Jupiter!! I cannot imagine the pain your poor hubby went though. Glad these stones are now out of his system.
ReplyDeleteI sure hope he's feeling better after having that removed! I wish that upon noone.. Poor Guy! *hugs* to you both!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like it was quite a stone!!! My dad had kidney stones a few years ago and my mum said she'd never seen him whine so much before in her life lol
ReplyDeleteHey, thanks for the shout out! Mucho appreciated!
ReplyDeleteThat stone must have been painful. Glad you had good medical care for him though!
Thinking of you guys!
I can't imagine the pain he went through with a stone that big. I hope he's feeling much better soon.
ReplyDeleteAck!! LOL! Wellll.... ahem.... a couple of firsts here for me. Let's just say one of them was that I've never seen a kidney stone before. That must've been one humongous rock! OUCH!!
ReplyDeleteI have no experience with stones, Thank God . . . that looks like a doozer.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the awesome review! I just read the whole post and it encouraged me to think upon a project I could do with my daughter. She's only 4, but she really wants to sew with me!
I've heard that passing a stone is worse than childbirth, so your hubby has my sympathy. It is amazing what surgeons can do nowadays. I know you will be taking excellent care of the poor fellow. Best of luck and how nice of you to credit the surgeon.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for your husband, this must have been quite the ordeal! Way to make light of it now...
ReplyDeleteThe stones look like the prehistorical arrow head my father would sometimes find in the woods in France.
HOLY GOODNESS. The poor man. My dad had a stone recently, 2 mm. He thought he was dying. Your hubby must be a man of steel.
ReplyDeleteOh. My. Goodness. I can't believe that! Remind me never to get a kidney stone.
