here we go.

The Tova. At this writing it's all taped together and cut out from some cheap broadcloth I had on hand for a wearable muslin. I have high hopes. Despite the number of times the word 'ease' is used in the instructions. 'Ease' scares me.

  1. I had my reservations making my first one, in spite of how many I saw around the internet. The first one was quickly followed by the second. And one for a friend. I have fabric for a third... I think you'll enjoy it. :)

  2. You'll do fine! If I could do it you can too! :) I blogged about my finished Tova recently if you want to see how it turned out - my best tip is to use pellon wonder under tape to help secure the sleeve cuffs before you topstitch them down... and to read Kerry's Tova sew-along!

  3. Don't be afraid! I managed to make it and didn't lose my mind despite making two left sleeves at first (I use a fabric that didn't have a wrong side....). Minimal seam-ripping. No hair loss. Just don't rush! :-) Good luck!

  4. My Tova pattern is sitting with a piece of floral lawn fabric mocking me from my cupboard - gotta do it, might do a sew along and make mine this weekend.

  5. Hey, "ease" will be your word of the month : )

  6. Y'all, thanks for the words of encouragement. I got the bodice, front and back sewn together, and it looks like it will have all the usual problems that patterns have for me -- not wide enough in shoulders and not short enough in the waist. I'm sure my second one will go better though. Boy, that bodice is kinda tricky!
