new colorways in 100% wool felt - WIP

Hey, guys. Stitching like a busy bee in between driving my kid all over creation to volleyball. This is the first time I've been an athlete parent and MAN, y'all. It's a lot of driving. But my kid loves it. Go, Holland! Bless her, she's working successfully to overcome the combined set of awkward genes she got from her very unathletically gifted parents. I have other talents.

So anyway, the three Twelve Days ornaments^ up there are from the blue/pink color bundle that I'm putting together for Janet at Felt on the Fly using her luxurious 100% wool felts. There will be three different colorways and they are going to be heavy on the rich, dark and bright colors. I'm excited to share more later!

In other news, I decided it was time to replace my blog, shop, and social media profile pictures with one that actually looks like me. The old one was the Brunette Larissa from several years ago. It was time to switch to Granny Hair Larissa. But how embarrassing is it to take a bunch of selfies? I'd rather be poked with knives than ask my teens to photograph official shots of me, so I hid in the kitchen and tried to figure out the best way to get a shot of myself with my phone timer (multiple fails) that didn't look 100% contrived and awkward. I kept checking over my shoulder to make sure they couldn't see what I was doing and mock me. It felt completely ridiculous. #generationgap

I'm not sure the one I am using over there > in my profile is even acceptable but I give up for now. It's me Living My Truth (aka swilling coffee).

  1. I like the two middle ones. Those make you look happy and not hiding behind a coffee cup (which is what I would do bc that might hide my wrinkles a little)
    The felt colors are beautiful.
Are you a gramma? or just pretending?
I can't believe it but I AM a gramma of 3 grand girls (I have two daughters) Another one is on the way. Stay cool and comfy. It is roasting here in Northern Virginia

    1. Thanks, Rosemary B! Wrinkles are definitely present, but lighting is key. Haha! No, I am not a gramma yet, but when it happens I’ll have the hair for it. My two are still teens but one day I hope to be holding some sweet grand babies! It’s hot here in ATL but I can tell there is something different about it — little less humid and we’ve had a couple of days that were cooler. Yay!

  2. You look gorgeous! I get looking over your shoulder while trying to take a photo. Three kids. They live to mock me. :)

    1. Yes, it’s the air they breathe. LOL how did I become so uncool? I used to be their superhero. I’ll become cool again one day, I just know it.

  3. I like the center left picture. In it you look like someone who knows how to have fun and it also shows off your lovely cheekbones. I gave up the dye in '15 and haven't looked back. I'd never refer to my hair (or anyone else's) as "granny hair". In our culture that's such a negative. Please don't think of your hair in that way. It's natural, silver, and uniquely yours. No one's silver looks just like yours.

For future pic attempts, wait until you're home alone, put on some music that makes you happy and then set up your phone camera. Before the camera shutter snaps, think of your loving family. I'm sure the pics will turn out great.

Bright colorways are a lot of fun but I prefer more classic Christmas colorways for my tree... ruby, gold, amethyst, sapphire. I'm looking forward to seeing the new color combinations you'll create!

  4. Shades of pink, green, purple and silver or grey hair are all over the media at the moment so make the most of your wonderful salt n pepper hair! Mine is gun metal with silver sides from a natural dark blonde! Frustrating it’s not all over silver or salt n pepper like yours lol Love the new colourways on the decorations too :)

  6. I can't find the felt kits in different colourways - am I missing something in my search or did you not go ahead with idea?

    1. Hey! I forgot to blog the first one like a doofus until just the other day. LOL. Here’s the link to the post: https://mmmcrafts.blogspot.com/2018/11/pinkblue-designer-collection-complete.html
The gold colorway is also complete, but FOTF doesn’t have the official listing ready yet. You can view that colorway on my IG and FB feeds. I’ll post here as soon as Janet tells me her listing is live! Thanks!
