I would have the students practice on long strips of scrap paper which I drew on a long wavy line. I called it scissor spaghetti and the goal was to feed the scissors the line because it was hungry. Most of the power in scissors is at the back of the "jaw" or the area closest to the screw, not the tips of the scissor, so I would have them open the scissor wide, close, open, slide up to the next part of the line to be cut, repeat. We did it together. Then I would teach spiral spaghetti cutting a square into a spiral by turning the "wheel" and steering the scissor to cut- open, close to cut, open, slide, cut again. This practice helps to get the rhythm of cutting even the tiniest cuts. <br />LindaLinda Swanekamphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07291121742617818637noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4869766342171493242.post-59354321875642475502012-12-14T08:28:36.795-05:002012-12-14T08:28:36.795-05:00Hey, guys! Any wasteful looking pieces were merely setup for photographic prettiness. I also keep all my scraps and stuff them in an old coke bottle crate. You never know when you'll just need a tiny piece.Larissa Hollandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03901400647777521741noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4869766342171493242.post-91808621864905140682012-12-14T05:41:15.246-05:002012-12-14T05:41:15.246-05:00Great post:)Great post:)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11773013341266414345noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4869766342171493242.post-26292310510760805332012-12-14T03:05:25.831-05:002012-12-14T03:05:25.831-05:00MUY INTERESANTE , MUCHÍSIMAS GRACIAS!!!MUY INTERESANTE , MUCHÍSIMAS GRACIAS!!!Anilegrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02520142810814520700noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4869766342171493242.post-32197650852917685802012-12-14T01:04:44.527-05:002012-12-14T01:04:44.527-05:00Thank you!! However, I'm always surprised when someone cuts out a shape in the MIDDLE of a piece of fabric or paper, rather than tracing and cutting the shape nearer the edge (and thus leaving a resulting much larger "scrap" piece left for another crafting project).
