meet Little Red

It's nice to finally be able to share some pictures of a completed doll. A doll that's occupied all of my right brain and most of my crafting time for a long while. I'm still putting the finishing touches on the PDF pattern, so that's not available quite yet, but soon. (Edit: It is finished and available in the shop!) Here are more images:

I also made one with more muted colors and brown hair, if you don't share my love of raven hair and bright red cloaks.

The light was busy dying as I was styling/snapping pictures like crazy, so I still need to get some of the doll without her cloak, and closeups of details. But hopefully you get the gist? I also would like to shoot some photos of Little Red with Gramma Wolfie just to show what a cute pair they make.

more with the leaves on the cards

I can't help myself. I never get tired of them. So easy, endless variations. So many fabric and felt scraps around here.

tooth officer, tooth marshal, and frankentooth in the shop

Finally finished these guys that I started several weeks ago. Sorry for the low light pictures. I was determined to get them in the shop tonight. Three tooth pillows with pockets for mouths and handy hanging loops. See the shop for details!

They were all made with the new tooth pattern I've been monkeying around with. Similar to the old one but with improvements, like a free floating sewn pocket instead of a glued one. I really like coming up with new theme and color variations.

coming, Gramma!

"Little Red, will you run this basket of fresh bread to your Gramma? She hasn't been feeling very well."
"Yes, Momma!"
"Hold it, don't forget your cloak!" (mwah.) "Be careful, sweetie."
"I will!"

(Doll pattern is underway and coming soon!)

shop update done, a little late

Update: There is a pattern available for this now: the Flora Needle Book pattern, available for instant download at Etsy and Craftsy.

Needle books are in the shop! I apologize that the update was an hour late and any inconvenience that might have caused. I knew as soon as I said a specific time yesterday that I was dooming myself. Ha! But I know you'll understand once I explain that I was talking with and praying for a friend who is going through a terrible time. Remember to thank God tonight for your families.

fair warning: needle books

Update: There is a pattern available for this now: the Flora Needle Book pattern, available for instant download at Etsy and Craftsy.

I now interrupt this summer break with the following news flash: Six needle books are going in the shop tomorrow (Aug 23) around 3pm Eastern. Just so's you know a bit ahead of time! (In the interest of fairness, I can't reserve any, but I know you understand! Thank you!)

micah's tooth marshal

This latest Tooth Marshal was made for a very special baby boy Micah and given at the shower this past weekend. I had fun doing him up in chaps and a mustache this time. I made some changes to the way I sew the pocket too, so that it is not glued at all but is a floating pocket that's sewn all the way around. I like that better. I also made the pocket a bit bigger. Wow, the light was really dismal the day I took these! It's hard to see the colors clearly, but his gun belt and mustache are brown. It's fun to think of future big boy Micah tucking his little teeth in the pocket.

Gramma Wolfie two-faced doll pattern available in the shop!

Hi! This Red Riding Hood inspired pattern is finally finished and available in the shop. It was a somewhat painful process to get to the final design, but you can rest assured this pattern has been thoroughly tested and edited! It is in PDF format and includes detailed step-by-step instructions, lots of diagrams, and color photos. This pattern includes a 1/2 inch seam allowance, which is a bit bigger this time and easier to work with.

There's an option to make the bonnet out of either eyelet trim or wide grosgrain ribbon. I've included a Resources section that lists specific colors and where to buy in the end of the pattern.

I'd say this is an advanced beginner/intermediate level pattern because of the number of steps, but it uses only basic machine and hand sewing methods. It is written for folks who are familiar with sewing terms. You can read more details in the shop if you are interested.

Here are more sample photos:

The Little Red pattern is coming next. Stay tuned for updates!
