(Thank you, everybody. Comments are now closed!)
Whoohoo! Here's part of the fun stuff aforementioned. Time to celebrate six months of mmmcrafts. Leave me one comment and you could be the new owner of this Katy Kitty that I made with my own two little bony hands. While you are at it, tell me what got you into crafting. If you are into crafting, that is. Which you don't have to be. So, Lita and Libby, if you are reading this, you too are eligible.
I will choose the new Katy Custodian by using a random number generator on October the 6th.
Looking forward to your comments, and to the next six months of mmmcrafts.
P.S. I've been asked by some of y'all when the Katy Kitty pattern will be available, and my answer is, er...soon! Sorry for the delay! Hopefully I'll dig out from under some urgent stuff and be able to tackle finishing that in a week or so, in plenty of time to get kitties underway for Christmas.
I love your kitty kat. I started crafting to get away from the commercialism of the holidays.
ReplyDeleteShe is adorable! Happy 6 monthiversary! I always look forward to reading your new posts. <3
ReplyDeleteHappy blogsary Larissa! Vicki's wonderful Turkey Feathers blog inspired me to try the wonderful world of crafting and I've been hooked ever since!
ReplyDeleteYour Katy Kitty is gorgeous! I'm sure she'll feel at home in my house. ;-)
Happy motniversary!!
ReplyDeleteThe kitty Katy is so so so adorable!
I LOVE it!
I startet crafting when I found the blogs... It all started with Allsorts, from there I found other blogs, including yours, and fell in love with all the gorgeous things you all create. Didn't take long until I felt the urge to create pretty things too!
I just starrted a blog myself, and I'm enjoying it all so much!
Kisses from Brazil!
Just found your blog 2 days ago and I love it! Can't wait to try some things out. I've just started "sewing", so I'm new to everything!
ReplyDeleteA long family heritage of crafty women. The urge to craft runs through my veins! Being cheap and picky helps, too.
ReplyDeleteHappy Blogiversary, Larry. I'm so glad I suggested you do this... ;) We want that kitty!
Very good......
ReplyDeleteYour stuff is so cute! And I adore Kitty Kat. Right now I am working on sewing two dolls for nieces, and knitting a shawl for Grandma. (then there are the 5 billion other things I have to finish for christmas heh)
ReplyDeleteHappy 6 Month!
Dee
I can't believe it has been 6 months already! I guess time flies when you're having fun. :)
ReplyDeleteI started sewing when Curt and I got married and didn't have any money to buy stuff to decorate the house, and has kind of developed from there. Other than that I have been drawing and creating pretty much my whole life.
(Love the new color combo of this Katy!)
my little avery wants to be kitty's new mommy!
ReplyDeleteI got into crafting because I love creating things - I am a graphic designer in profession and am on the computer what seems like 24/7 and I divulge mainly in print and web - so to make something with other mediums and that peels my eyes away from the computer - it feels great - to knit - to sew. There is a independence in it - forget having to buy presents or a new scarf - I can make it! Crafting is another way to express my creativity and energy without spending more time on the computer. Love the kitty by the way!!
ReplyDeleteHere Kitty, Kitty, Kitty!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE her she is just adorable!
Kitty Kat is SOOOOOO Cute!!!! My grandmothers played a big role in my desire to quilt and sew. As far as my other crafts, like scrapbooking and card making, those are just things that my friends were doing that I loved, so I jumped in!!
ReplyDeleteI am so smitten with Ms. Kitty! And I'm certain my daughter will be too!
ReplyDeleteI pick handmade over store-bought every time! It is just so much more meaningful!
Thanks for being so generous and happy anniversary!
Amy
Green Kitty turned out adorable! I want to win this one because I never find the time to make my own things. I still can't wait to get a copy of the pattern for Kitty. Happy 6 month!
ReplyDeleteKaty is just adorable. I can't say what got me into craft. I think I was just born loving them. I can't wait to read another 6 months of your blog. Keep up the good work and interesting post.
ReplyDeleteSo sweet! I have two little girls that would fight tooth and nail over her.
ReplyDeleteI got into crafting at a week age as a girl scout. It has come and gone throughout the years. I did a ton of ceramics in high school, I majored in Graphic Design. And then when I had kids, my creativity took a nose dive. It is now starting to come back...with a vengeance!
My three year old would love this!
ReplyDeleteOh dear! Kitty Katy is sooo cute! We just got two new little kittens, so she is perfect.
ReplyDeleteI knew I loved crafting ever since preschool when we were making bookmarks and they pulled out the rubber cement!
Happy 6 month blogiversary!
Congratulations on 6 months!!!
ReplyDeleteMy Ava would love this little kitty...
sumerlovin.wordpress.com
So rad!
ReplyDeleteI got into crafting because I want so many things and it is cheaper AND more fun to make it myself!
Pretty kitty! I love the pointy brown scallops on her shoes. Hmm... I've been crafting since I was little, when I sewed doll clothes and furniture and even made paper books and money for my dolls. Crafting keeps me sane. Crafting helps me focus and let go. Crafting helps me do something I can feel good about.
ReplyDeleteAwh, too sweet! I started crafting again after falling in love with the internet. The creativity on blogs is contagious!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful kitty cat, I would love to stroke her ears.
ReplyDeleteI started crafting at about 8 years old when my mother got me making dresses for my dolls. Since then I have wandered through knitting, cross stitch, rubber stamping and then started on parchment craft/pergamano. Have also been bitten by the beading bug and have started making goddess dolls.
Those kitty shoes are killing me! I started sewing/crafting during a planned stint of unemployment. It seemed like the perfect time to immerse myself in it and force my mom into sewing lessons.
ReplyDeleteHappy 6 months - glad I found mmmcrafts!
CHOOSE ME!!!! Come on, I've been begging you to make me something for months. Pretty please?
ReplyDeleteCrafting is in my genes. Being creative is the only thing I'm good at.
A chance to win a Katy? I'm in!!!
ReplyDeleteI started crafting when I was pregnant with my first daughter. I had this intense need to create things for her, homemade and wonderful things. I got into crocheting, and knitting, and then spinning, and sewing, and quilting, and and and... now my house looks like a craft supply store. But my two girls do get some fabulous things!!!
LOVE this blog, thanks for all the great ideas.
I love her!!! Thank you for your generosity :) I would love to be Kitty Kat's new mom and she would have so many siblings too.
ReplyDeleteI got into crafting when I was little, because I was an only child for the longest time (until age 8) and it was a great way to pass time. I've always loved it, nothing relaxes me more :)
SOOOO CUTE!
ReplyDeleteMy amazing Nana got me into crafting. She was one amazing woman... always had several projects going and from time to time finished one. Hmmm... that seems a bit familiar to me. Now who do I know who is like that? Surely not me!
Ha ha ha.
Sooo Cute! I love reading your blog. Congrats on 6 MMMonths!
ReplyDeleteI love the cat? I starting sewing lessons in september, downloaded your molly monkey pattern (for which thank you!) and hope to be able to make it in a few months (I hope, after finishing our barbecue apron in class, I can begin with some more exciting things like a monkey)
ReplyDeleteGreetings,
Evelyn
What a neat giveaway and green is my favorite color. I started crafting because I want to keep my mind busy and create unique items. I refuse to be a couch potato!!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog. I am always inspired!
ReplyDeleteI love it! I used your pattern awhile ago and made a bunny, but I can't get the skirt right. <---has no knowledge of sewing machines. ::huffs::
ReplyDeleteHappy 6 months! Love the kitty... cute and tons of personality! I got back into crafts because I have more time right now (maternity leave) and I have totally been inspired by the oodles of craft blogs (like this one) that I have been stumbling across.
ReplyDeletei've always liked crafts but didn't have enough initiative or inspiration until i got pregnant with my first child in 2002. i had a lot of free time on my hands and i wanted to make her a baby quilt. i had never made a quilt before but i have a mother-in-law who makes quilts and offered me lots of advice. soon thereafter i started seeing craft blogs popping out of nowhere and was immediately hooked. they provided a lot of inspiration and encouragement to continue to make things and be creative. now i make most, if not all, of the gifts that i give.
ReplyDeletehappy 6 month blogiversary! i hope i'm lucky enough to win your katy kitty. she's very cute!
Your work is outstanding!
ReplyDeleteI craft for my sanity!
Oh how cute!
ReplyDeleteMy family got me into crafting. Ever since I can remember I've been making things with my parents and grandparents. They taught me everything I know and are a constant source of inspiration. Just about everything I make, they have a version that they would make as well. It all comes around! I love crafty families!
Happy 6th..I just adore that kitty..wonderful autumncolors..I could sure find it a home here among my own creations.....
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Happy Blogiversary!
ReplyDeleteI like to try my hand at almost anything creative. My main focus lately has been sewing, photography, and card making.
Oh so cute. My daughter would love her! I got into crafts so I could feel a sence of completion in my life - not that I don't totally love being a mom but I still have who knows how many years of work on them :)
ReplyDeletehow can I resist... I've been enjoying reading your blog.
ReplyDeleteI have embroidered since before I can remember. My mom must have taught me, but I don't remember it. My crafting has sprung from my embroidery and sewing, and I do some art journaling, a little paper crafting, printmaking (on fabric), and odds 'n ends of other stuff.
She's just precious. You didn't skimp on anything with her. She's detailed and carefully made from top to bottom. So cute!

I'm so glad I found your blog. Thanks for visiting mine yesterday! I have been crafting since I was a wee little one b/c of my mom who was very crafty. It's my therapy and creative outlet. I'm addicted because when I don't craft I start feeling out of whack. :) I love the kitty!
ReplyDeleteSo cute!! I started crafts because my Mom is SO crafty. I'm still asking for her help all the time.
ReplyDeleteThis is the most adorable crafted cat and doll I have ever seen! I love retro and my favourite color is green. Happy anniversary and thank you so much for sharing all these lovely patterns and pictures.
ReplyDeleteKITTIE IS DARLING LARISSA!
ReplyDeleteHOW GENEROUS OF YOU, I WOULD HAVE A HARD TIME PARTING WITH SUCH A CUTIE IF I HAD MADE HER.
The details are incredible, some cool shoes she's wearing! wow!
To answer your question, I would have to say my Mom got me into crafting.I was an infant when she had me play at her feet while sewing and machine knitting.
Creating and crafting go hand in hand for me and make me feel complete.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR AWESOME BLOG.
My daughter would love it!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 6 months!
oh boy,win or not im glad i found you. so much cuteness!! let me know if you ever want to swap. i have a big stack of mushrooms made right now.
ReplyDeletep.s. i was just looking around your blog,I really like what you said about exercising your freedom. Go Palin! :)
ReplyDeleteI've just started to get into crochet. I'm hoping to get a sewing machine for Christmas, then I will learn to sew!
ReplyDeleteKaty Kitty is so cute!
ReplyDeleteI got into crafting after joining Deviantart and seeing other people's work.
I'm so glad I found your blog, everything, especially that Kitty is just wonderful! I've been crafting for as long as I can remember, but I got into sewing and quilting shortly after I had my daughter to feed my crafty need when I stopped working and creating crafts for the daycare I worked at!
ReplyDeleteShe is sooo cute. You are very talented. I started crafting as a kid. It was a way to express yourself and it was fun to create something unique. Also, there was only 3 channels on the TV so crafting was a way to pass the time.
ReplyDeleteSooo cute! Love Katy Kitty! I've always loved crafting as long as I can remember. I was always creative as a kid. I really love craft blogs and they (along with my children) have revitalized my crafty instincts!
ReplyDeleteLove the blog, and katy kitty would look amazing in my daughter's bedroom! I have been crafting since I was a child, had a break and started again when my daughter was born. I now do it to ease the boredom and loneliness of being a single parent...Thanks for your blog to read!
ReplyDeleteHappy 6 monthiversary! I started crafting at the tender age of 4. My mother is an interior decorator and would make soft furnishings at home. We were allowed to play in her scrap basket, and would spend hours making wacky things out of fabric.
ReplyDeleteI love Katy Kitty's colors. She would be right at home in my orange bedroom.
happy day to you! love the kitty! i started crafting when i was about 6 or 7. my grandmother made almost everything by hand. she taught me about sewing, crochet (the doily kind), painting, baking and a love of piano and music. i miss her much. Kitty Kat says, send me to Deborah! big hug, Deb
ReplyDeleteCute kitty - just like all your other stuff! I enjoy seeing all the things you create.
ReplyDeleteNot sure when I started crafting, but it has been really fun!
God bless you!
My mother was an industrious DIY'r and I guess I just followed in her footsteps. She taught me the basics of sewing at 6 yrs of age. We could hardly afford much growing up, so I learned how to make my own clothes & design toys for my friends. I am thankful to my mom for her encouragement and patience with me over the years. I am now learning how trying it can be with a busy toddler of my own!
ReplyDeleteI trust this sweet kitty will find a good home!
Your kitty cat is adorable! I craft for creative catharsis purposes. All day long changing diapers calls for doing something just for the beauty of it.
ReplyDeleteso cute!
ReplyDeletei got into crafting because it's fun and relaxing. i'm currently an art student, and so crafting is a nice break from drawing. i also like to try to transfer my style of drawing to my dolls. :D
Katy is adorable, great name too :). Love the color combo, beautiful fabrics. I'm looking forward to your next six months!
ReplyDeleteI'm an artist so if I'm not creating something I get cranky and mopey (ask my husband). I desperately need a creative outlet to stay balanced so I've been pretty crafty my entire life. Sewing is my most recent creative outlet and I've fallen in love with it. My grandmother is a wonderful seamstress so maybe my knack at it comes from her, at least that's what my mother says :).
Happy monthiversary!!! I love the kitten. I got into crafting when I ws 8, making loop pot holders:)
ReplyDeleteI love her!
ReplyDeleteI have always enjoyed creating things from simple materials and watching them transform: sewing, knitting, making cards. The challenge of learning something new and the satisfaction of succeeding are so worth it.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! Your Kitty is so Kute! I hope she gets to come live with me. =)
ReplyDeleteI can't recall a time I didn't have my hands on some sort of art medium or other. My Mom always encouraged me and my sister to express ourselves though art and craft. My current medium du jour is sewing - quilting especially - though I've been known to pick up a knitting needle or crochet hook every now and again.
I just discovered your blog - via Crafty Crow. And I'll be back for more beautiful inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI think I've been crafting my whole life - grew up with a very crafty family.
This little kitty would be much loved by my 20mth daughter; she's still waiting for me to make her a little softie. Your's is simply adorable....
what an adorable kitty! i started sewing in june because i was hacked at how pricey little girl's boutique clothing is, lol! i keep wanting to attempt a little doll like this, but so far have been a big chicken!! and happy 'versary!
ReplyDeleteHi again, I've tagged you as a favourite blog, if you want to play along please do. Can't seem to add a link to the comment, so please see my blog for the 'rules'
ReplyDeleteCheers
So very cah-yute!
ReplyDeleteI think I started crafting as soon as I could crawl into my Mom's materials!
Since then I've crafted to make money, save money, make personal gifts, and to keep my sanity!
I currently work in the sample room at Clothworks Textiles and get to drool over (not literally, they frown on that) the fabric everyday while I decide what to make next!
I love love love your blog :)
wow sooo cute :) I started crafting when I was 10 years old, maybe even younger, just always had a natural inclination to all things artsy and craftsy!
ReplyDeleteHappy monthiversary! I started crafting because my mom was always sewing costumes and such for me growing up. I guess I just don't know any better!
ReplyDeleteoohhh, pick me!!
ReplyDeleteso cute! makes me wish I had a baby girl to make one for! good thing my boys have some friends that are girls, I definately want to try to make this when you get the pattern up! just discovered your blog and LOVING it so far!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog!! I read it all the time. I have always been crafting. As a child I would draw, glue, anything would do to "make" something. Now I mainly cross stitch, knit and bead although I have recently taken out the sewing machine and done a few things. Thanks for the inspiration on your blog.
ReplyDeleteThis is the sweetest kitty cat! I started scrapbooking 14 years ago an it's become this all things paper craft obsession. I've also started dabbling in some sewing projects...though I don't think I have the talent for this yet.
ReplyDeletehttp://jenalonso.typepad.com/fstop_memories/
Kitty Kat is precious. Reminds me of the Kitty Cat's I had as a little girl on the farm. :)
ReplyDeleteI have been crafting all my life; first, as a need for gifts for friends; second, as the need to create something original and not seen in stores. :)
I found that crafting is relaxing.
Keep up the GREAT work! And I am looking forward to see all your great work in the future.
Happy Crafting!
So cute! I started crafting to replace all the craziness of storebought junk with fun and useful handmade treasures, granted I'm just in the learning process and some of my treasures don't turn out quite as I invision! It's also my quiet time and sanity from my busy homeschooling day with three little ones!
ReplyDeletethis is my very first visit to your blog & it is already in my favorite list - i find my crafting is seasonal & very dependant on inspiration! thank you for yours :)
ReplyDeleteHappy 6 month anniversary! Little kitty is too adorable... I've always liked to make things, but I think what really got me into crafting was craftster.org - that place is so full of creativity! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Blog! Your crafts are always so inspiring - thank you for sharing them with us! Kitty Kat is absolutely adorable!! Another hit!
ReplyDeleteMy mother got me into crafting...just seeing her do it throughout my childhood!
ReplyDeleteI adore anything handmade and original. It means so much more when someone has spent their time and talent to create something. Your kitty is precious. My daughter would go bananas over her.
ReplyDeleteLisa
Oh my got the link from Simple Mom and what a fab blog you have here...looking forward to adding you in to my weekly read...
ReplyDeleteLove the kitty cat. As the loving oma of a 15 month old grandson who is enchanted with cats, kitty would find a welcomed home. As for me I do a lot of mixed media and jewelry, including fused glass beads and silver wire work.
ReplyDeletewhat an adorable kitty! My daughter would love this, since she spends most her days pretending to be a cat.
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh this is so cute i could cry! i want to see my little cupcake walking around with it everywhere she goes!!
ReplyDeleteI just discovered your blog tonight and I'm excited about diving in and catching up on 6 months worth of crafting! I had a mainly handmade Christmas last year and am hoping to do so again. I mainly do hand sewing projects as I don't have a sewing machine (yet) or know how to use one . . applique napkins, shirts, embroidery, felt ornaments, hand sewn fabric stuffed ornaments . . .lots of ideas percolating this year, too!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, that is the cutest thing I have ever seen! Let's see, I've always been drawn to crafts. After I had my daughter though I got into scrapbooking & really started paying attention to other forms of crafts.
ReplyDeleteOof, that Kitty is cute! My mom is crafty, so I've always been into the crafty scene, yo! (I'm sorry, I don't know what's gotten into me.)
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and there are some cute things here! Thank you so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYou have done a lot in six months. I love the colors of the kitty - the olive and orange. I am excited for the pattern to come and thank you for the generously giving us the monkey!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work!lj
ReplyDeleteI've been crafting all my life - wonderful skills taught to me by my mom, and I'm trying to pass them down to my daughter. I think it's a life-skill we all should learn.
I almost missed this!
ReplyDeleteYIkes!
I love your Molly monkey-- I would be so thrilled to have your kitty!
Laura
Super cute! I made the monkey and it turned out adorable! Thanks for the free pattern!
ReplyDeleteI think I really started wanting to make things (everything!) when I first read the Little House books (I got them for my 9th birthday) My grandma always sewed and my mom from time to time. It thrilled my grandma to no end that I started quilting and making clothes and toys and whatnots before she died. Unfortunately she lost her sight before I really got started crafting in earnest. She also taught me to crochet when I was about 7. So I guess she had more to do with my craftiness than I realized. I don't think I'd ever really thought much about my crafty beginnings before now.
ReplyDeleteYou Katy is so sweet! I just downloaded your Molly pattern and hope to make monkeys for both of my girls for Christmas. I might have to make a boy for my crazy monkey-obsessed little brother as well (he's 27) I think I'd best get busy.
Blessings!
